The
Nudnik Show has a unique history, itself worthy of a Hollywood
movie. The Nudnik cartoons were created in Prague
in the 1960s as theatrical shorts for the U.S. market. They, along
with the rest of the Rembrandt Films animation library, lay undiscovered
in a New Jersey warehouse for 25 years before Adam Snyder, the son
of the original producer, uncovered them in 1995. Snyder packaged
the library into 13 half-hour episodes. Each episode begins with
a Nudnik cartoon, followed by other cartoons from the Rembrandt
Films library, including the Oscar-winning Munro, several cartoons
based on classic children’s books, and Rembrandt’s Self-Help
series. To tie everything together, Nudnik creator Gene
Deitch created a new animated opening title sequence and
30-second links featuring new Nudnik gags.
The
Nudnik Show has allowed an international audience the opportunity
to enjoy one of the last undiscovered classic cartoon libraries.
Distributed worldwide by TV Loonland, the series has aired in more
than 20 territories!
